Don’t you love it when you have a want or need and your finances, the opportunity to shop and a great selection coincide!
Many times I have had the money but no time to shop or if I had the time I just could not find anything that called my name. Other times I have been out not necessarily looking for anything in particular and came across a whole slew of incredible buys that were destined to remain right where they were due to a less than desirable availibility of funds.
I just recently experienced one of those “everything fell into place” kind of days. I had been searching for the perfect pair of Fall/Winter boots since last year and could never find the right pair. I inadvertently acquired a pair of camel colored boots when I purchased a pair for one of my daughters for Christmas and they didn’t fit her so I decided to keep them and purchased a new pair for her. I was wanting a black pair and though I have worn that pair many times I was still wanting. Part of my problem was getting the pair I wanted for a price I could live with as well. Sometimes I would rather pass than settle and as I’ve come to find out that can work in my favor. Waiting has many times proven to deliver something even better than I could have imagined!
About a week ago I had the opportunity to shop a bit and after rows of boots in every style, color and material known I had found two black pair to choose from. Somehow I still could not bring myself to purchase a pair though they were reasonably priced. Whether a good or bad trait I like to get the best bang for the buck. Believe it or not, not everyone shares my mindset on this matter ha ha! I unfortunately also like to pick out the most expensive everything which doesn’t bode well for a chinchy shopper. What I have found out over the years and just a few days after my boot adventure is that again, many times waiting pays off!
I happened to have an appointment that was delayed and found time to quickly drop by a resale boutique I have been shopping on and off in for years. I don’t go often but they get in a lot of overstock, one of a kind, eclectic , new and used items. I won’t go into the entire experience but I ended up with not one pair, not two but five new, tag on most, pairs of boots. One pair may have been worn once or twice but they still had that new smell and feel. I’m particular about shoes so this was a big deal finding this many acceptable pair for the price. This may seem a bit excessive but I ended up getting all five for $20 more than one pair at the shoe store and it was under $200.
Its interesting to sit back and reflect on the times that “luck” played a part in our lives. To see how many times if we are patient, willing to wait instead of settling for whatever presents itself that we get not only what we want but sometimes so much more! Luck, no it is not luck at all!!! Just as our children or those that receive of our generosity cannot chalk it up to luck we neither can deny the source of all that is good. That is our loving, generous, gracious Heavenly Father!!!
He doesn’t leave us to wonder about this it is written clearly that He will provide. Matthew 7:11 “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!”
I understand sometimes we are pressed for time and absolutely need something at the moment we need it but have found when that’s not the case waiting has proven worthwhile. I believe God is as much in the little insignificant things such as a pair of boots as He is in the big things that we sometimes wait on for what seems an eternity. There are also the things that never come and I trust His decision in that as well though I may not ever understand or at times not want to understand.
Trust that He knows our wants and needs. He is a God of endless resources and never ceases to amaze me in the ways He presents Himself and His gifts. I don’t know why sometimes out of the blue our requests whether wants or needs are fulfilled when other times they are not. I don’t understand God’s portions. I do know according to scripture there is more expectation where more is given. I pray that we all learn to be as generous with what we are entrusted as God is with us. I know I want to see others as excited as I was when I took my blessing as I see it, home that day.
I have asked for many things that I am still waiting on. Desires of the heart, healing, release, freedom and much more for myself and others. Perhaps they will come to fruition, perhaps God has something greater in store. Perhaps some of these are not mine to acquire or ask for, for others. Whatever the case may be I will strive to worship in the waiting, be thankful in receiving and know I am more than blessed whether or not I receive. Our hope, our greatest blessing is in the fact that whatever we may or may not receive here on earth we have been promised Eternal Life with more than we could ever begin to ask for !!!
