I’m an introvert who mostly loves people. Yet sometimes I honestly believe the stupidity of the masses will be the death of me. I sometimes fear that’s how I’m going to go out, suffocated by pride-induced stupidity. I’ll be gasping for Godly wisdom where there is none, unable to survive due to a lack of kingdom-mindedness. Dramatic much? That would be a YES.
I want to have patience with all of us, myself included, but there are times when I can’t help but look to the heavens and yell, what were you thinking? We be crazy down here. Why do you bother with us? Stop being so long-suffering. We don’t deserve it. We don’t deserve You!
And this is usually when my introvert tendencies kick in and I find myself spending most of my time alone. Lately, and I’m sure I’m not the only one, I’ve had a feeling I can’t completely comprehend let alone explain. With all the chaos in the world, I’ve wanted to mentally pull away. I’ve shut down almost all media. I’ve limited my outings. I can only give the reason as… my spirit is grieved, hurt, sickened.
Alone for me feels right. I get recharged, albeit slowly.
And when I say alone, I really mean with just family. Those who think and feel nearly the same as I do. So no discussions are heated or strained. Talking isn’t even always necessary. There is peace and I can listen to the silence around me. God is always in the silence. His whispers will heal and revive my spirit.
It’s incredibly sad when division, which is clearly a tool of the enemy, reaches inside the church. It’s heart-breaking when his deception hangs like a fog over the people who are charged with the task of not only seeing through the deception but leading others out of it too. Why are we getting caught up in this deception, this culture of hatred and choosing sides?
There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. – Galatians 3:28
There is only one side for the church to be on and the true church will always side with Jesus. God says that on this side of the cross there are to be no differences between anyone other than saved and unsaved. And the only reason we are to recognize this difference is to lead the unsaved to Christ. In the church there is no color, ethnicity, or political differences to defend. Period. We are one. Brothers and sisters of the same Father. Family.
Friends, we must stop defending what we once were and find our identity in Christ alone! We now belong to God because we were bought at a price. The unfathomable price of His son.
We, the church, are so much more than we acknowledge, so much stronger than we believe. We are capable of bringing about the reconciliation this world needs. I know this because God tells us so in His word.
All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. – 2 Corinthians 5:18-20
Listen, if I’m reading this right and I truly think I am, we need to start being harder on the church concerning sin and bolder and louder in the world with our love. Let’s stop trying to reconcile others to our beliefs and start reconciling them to God. He’ll take care of their beliefs. He’ll convict them if there is sin and they’ll respond once they know His love.
And that’s just the start! While I’m a little leery of continuing, you may as well know a few other things I’m thinking:
- Church, we are failing and we will have to answer for it one day.
- We have to know who we are in Christ, believe it, and walk it out. It’s well past time to stop believing the enemy who talks to us through the unsaved, the saved, and even our own thoughts.
- Jesus said, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He is Truth. Jesus is also the word made flesh. Therefore, the word is Truth. Which means, if what you’re thinking and saying isn’t in sync with the word of God, if it doesn’t line up perfectly with what God says, then you are part of the problem in this world today. Satan is using you for his purposes.
- Stop any divisive language. Stop labeling people. If you aren’t, at all times, reflecting God’s truth you should stop trying to add to the conversation. No one needs to hear what you have to say.
Now that I think of it, maybe these things just need to be said.
